The Amelia Island Sunsplash is not just a reggae music concert. At 7am, there will be a beach clean up with Keep Nassau Beautiful, the Eastern Surfing Association will have a surf contest at 8am. These events, held the first weekend of each month, offer visitors the opportunity to see how the soldiers lived during the Civil War.

The workshop will concentrate on concepts and techniques for which Simmons is noted: diversity in subject matter, large scale paintings, fluid acrylic used as transparent watercolor, unusual textures such as Nicholas' popular "batik" technique, computer-aided design (computer not required for enrollees); composition, poured watercolor; and creative photography for obtaining unconventional reference shots. Everybody will paint daily, and each person will receive indivdualized attention.
