Located at the northern tip of Amelia Island, where Cumberland Sound and the Saint Marys River meet the Atlantic. The park is the site of Fort Clinch, a pre-Civil War fort. Construction of the existing fort was started in 1847. The park encompasses 1,121 acres on the north end of Amelia Island.
A part of the park system since 1935, Fort Clinch is one of the most well-preserved 19th century forts in the country. Although no battles were fought here, it was garrisoned during both the Civil and Spanish-American wars. During the 1930s, the Civilian Conservation Corps began preserving and rebuilding many of the structures of the abandoned fort.
Activities and Things to Do at Fort Clinch State Park... Activities at the park include living history programs, Civil War reenactments, campfire programs, guided walks, fishing, swimming, and camping. Visitors also enjoy the nature trails, coastal hammock, dunes, and salt water marsh.
Daily tours with period reenactors depicting garrison life bring the fort to life for visitors. Sunbathing, swimming, and beachcombing are popular activities at the beach. Anglers can fish from the pier or take advantage of excellent surf fishing. Hikers and bicyclists can enjoy a six-mile trail through the park. Self-guided nature trails provide opportunities to learn about and observe native plants and wildlife. A full-facility campground and a youth camping area provide overnight accommodations.

Admission Fee: $6.00 per vehicle. Limit 2-8 people per vehicle.
$4.00 Single Occupant Vehicle.
$2.00 Pedestrians, bicyclists, extra passengers, passengers in vehicle with holder of Annual Individual Entrance Pass.
Camping Fee: $26.00 per night, plus tax. Includes water and electricity at Amelia River and Atlantic Beach campgrounds. Florida residents who are 65 years of age or older or who hold a social security disability award certificate or a 100 percent disability award certificate from the Federal Government are permitted to receive a 50 percent discount on current base campsite fees. Youth Camping: $1.00 per youth, organized youth and adult group camping.
$5.00 per adult/chaperon, organized youth and adult group camping.
Getting There... Fort Clinch State Park is located at 2601 Atlantic Ave (State Highway A1A) in Fernandina Beach, FL. From Interstate 95, exit at Exit 373 (Callahan/ Fernandina) and proceed east about 15 miles on Highway A1A. Turn right on Atlantic Avenue. The park entrance is about 2 miles ahead on the left.

Free with park admission of $5.00 per vehicle. Every Saturday, weather permitting. This is a guided nature walk around Willow Pond trail, which winds through a coastal maritime hammock down to fresh water ponds. Through an informative presentation, visitors will discover a wide variety of native plants and animals.
Fort George Island Cultural State Park lies approximately 16 miles east of downtown Jacksonville on S.R. A1A, or three miles south of Little Talbot Island State Park.
